Easiest way for that would be to have the needle inside the spring in advance and then both put in place and tighten the screw.
Take great caution at where the flat portion of needle shank is facing according to the model of your machine.
To all above models, the thread needs to pass through the small hole of the bottom ring.
You'll then have to lower the machine's feed dogs or use an appropriate feed dogs cover plate.
