SIGNED 2017 Pebble Beach Concours Poster FERRARI 212 Barchetta 121 LM RoweSigned 2017 Pebble Beach Concours event poster features British artist Barry Rowe’s depiction of a 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta (chassis 0102 E) on the Pebble Beach Concours show field. Phil Hill depicted near the front of the car. In the background, a Isotta Fraschini and the Ferrari 121 LM that Ernie McAfee drove in the 1956 Pebble Beach Road Race.The history of the Barchetta is complicated, especially since the chassis and the body were separated from each other when the car was rebodied for the 1955 Kirk Douglas movie The Racers. The story goes that the movie’s producer, Henry Hathaway, asked Enzo Ferrari to loan him cars for the movie. After Enzo refused, Phil Hill helped arrange for Fox Studios to purchase three Ferraris—including this Barchetta—which the producer had modified to avoid giving Ferrari any free publicity. He called them 0102 E remained a Burano until the current owner, Tom Peck, reunited the original body with its original chassis. Barry Rowe, a member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS), painted his first poster for the Pebble Beach Concours in 1998. That poster is still among the most sought-after Concours posters, and it kicked off a 20-year tradition for Rowe of creating art for Pebble Beach Concours and Tour event posters.
