The Order of the People's Army was a decoration of the Socialist FederalRepublic of Yugoslavia for military merit in three degrees and was awarded from1951 to 1992.

The Order was established by the Presidium of the National Assembly ofthe Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia on December 29, 1951. It wasawarded — for special merits in building and strengthening the armed forces ofthe SFRY or for special successes in leading armed forces units instrengthening and training them for the defense of the country's independence.The order could also be awarded to military units or institutions, and was wornon the right side of the chest.

With the Law on Amendments to the Law on Decorations of the FNR ofYugoslavia from March 1, 1961, the name of the Order was changed, and sincethen it has had the following lines:

- Order of the People's Army with a Laurel Wreath (formerly Order of thePeople's Army 1st Order) 13th in theorder of importance of Yugoslav decorations.

- Order of the People's Army with a Golden Star (formerly Order of thePeople's Army II Order) — 22nd in the order of importance of Yugoslavdecorations.

- Order of the People's Army witha silver star (formerly Order of the People's Army of the 3rd order) 31 in the order of importance of Yugoslavdecorations.
