~ this is hand-captioned in pencil underneath the Yosemite photo listings on the reverse side as \"Stump of Big Tree\" ~ however, this is NOT a Yosemite scene, but rather shows the Dance Hall gazebo at the Calaveras Big Tree Grove - four miles west of Arnold, California
~ note the person standing at right beneath the stump (for size) ~ this gazebo was constructed above a flat-planed Sequoia stump; the flat stump allowed dancing inside the gazebo!
~ I believe the gazebo was no longer in existence by the late 1890s
[mount measures approx. 7\" x 4\"]
