SCARCE MID to LATE 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN FOLK ART, ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE GIRL\'S SCHOOL ART, DECOUPAGE HAND DECORATED with CUT-OUT PAPER FIGURES of ANIMALS & HUMAN FIGURES in PERIOD COSTUME, PAPER LINED PINE WOODEN STORAGE BOX, featuring OLD PREVIOUSLY LACQUERED SURFACES, INTACT REAR NAILED LEATHER LID HINGES & INTACT INTERIOR, AFFIXED PAPER LINER[A great mid to late 19th century New England Girl\'s School primitive antique artifact & piece of American folk art. Found in a rural, country farmhouse in the Concord, New Hampshire area, this decoupage, completely hand decorated small lidded storage trunk, features hand-cut leather rear lid hinges, nailed to the pine wooden box. The interior of the box is lined with affixed creamy white printed wallpaper, featuring exotic palm trees. But the real story & what makes this particular decoupage, Girl\'s School Art decorated box so interesting, is the careful assembly & stacking of the many cut-out black ink printed lithographed pieces of ephemera affixed to the exterior of the box. There are figures depicting various animals, as well as oval & square medallions featuring human figures. All sides of the box are embellished with these hand-cut paper images, glued to the box\'s top, front & two sides. Only the back & bottom of the box don\'t have any cut-out paper figures affixed to them. Previously lacquered, it now has a honeyed, amber patina.Incredibly, it\'s now between 155 to 180 years old.In well-preserved overall antique condition.
