Probably the most famous of all First Generation Diesel
paint schemes, the Warbonnet was designed by EMD
artist Leland Knickerbocker to adorn the earliest Santa Fe
passenger Diesels. Leland used a color palette which re-
minded him of desert sunset shades through which the
trains traversed. Andy captures the spirit of Leland’s clas-
sic design in a somewhat more lush setting which actually
contrasts with the Warbonnet, making it stand out all the
more. A beautiful railroad painting!
