SANTA FE\'S SCOUT PASSENGER TRAIN PLACARD: $79.95
This very nice replica sign is 26\" x 13\" in size and was handmade by White Buffalo Sign Co. here in the USA. The Scout was Santa Fe’s primary heavyweight budgetpassenger train that covered its route between Chicago and Los Angeles. Itcarried coach chair cars (for reclining sleeping) and budget Pullman tourist carswith 16 curtained sections. The Scout began service in 1916, the train wassuspended during the depression from 1931 until 1936, and the last run was in1948 when the El Capitan became daily and was able to take over the budgetcoach business. After World War II, the public was tired of old-fashionedheavyweight trains and Pullman berth sleepers, so the days of trains like theScout were numbered. The Scout was pulled by a 4-6-4 Hudsonlocomotive across the flat plains, and helper locomotives were used tocross the mountain passes. The image was captured by a high resolution large format scanner with care given to keep all the detail of the aged original sign. Then the printed image was applied to 24 gauge galvanized metal with a protective laminate added to make a nice scratch resistant, original looking sign. This is a very good looking sign with a great vintage look. Please note that the sample photo is reduced in resolution and does not represent the quality of the final sign.
