Wonderful specimen from Diamantina, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Good reddish Rutile crystals, with a metallic luster, which are growing in a reticulated pattern, on an interesting and partially etched Quartz crystal. The area is more known for the golden rutile and Hematite inclusions in Quartz, but Brazil has also produced great examples of free growing Rutile, sometimes on, instead of in Quartz. And some of the Rutile is more red as opposed to golden, such as the specimen you see here. Love the net like pattern of the crystallization. The quart crystal has one contact point to the side, but other than that is a complete floater with nice etching crystallization features. An old collector label is present as well, even though I forgot to photograph it.This specimen is 96 grams in weight, or 3 1/4 oz. 2.2 inch x 1.6 inch x 1.3 inch.
