Rare Rockdale Union Stoneware Redware Pitcher from American Museum Collection Crafted By Master Potter John Tiller. Beautiful yellow mustard glossy salt glazed surface painted in French Provencal style. It is 7 1/2\" high x 5 1/2\" wide in the belly plus handle. The JT is impressed into the underside base for Potter John Tiller as is the R- U -S for Rockdale Union Stoneware. This specially produced American Museum Collection example was hand thrown & hand decorated using the traditional methods employed by 18th & 19th century Pennsylvania potters. I find no damage with common extremely fine tight glaze crazing and normal manufacturing flaws and crude elements. A slight shrinkage from firing near lower handle attachment that resulted in a trivial pottery separation that is quite common as lower handle is thumb pressed to attach lower section prior to firing in the kiln. See pics. For accuracy only. Simply a top example for the collector that looks just to have been bought and displayed. Quite rare!
