This is a pen and ink style print /drawing signed by Ojibway artist, Robert Kaykaygeesick that measures 11 1/2\" x 14\" and is titled, \" Buffalo Dancer 17/300\". The picture is black on off white or cream color textured paper and depicts an Indian Buffalo Dancer with silhouette of a buffalo surrounded by an all encompassing eagle in hoops. There is a small crease in paper on lower right and some age yellowing to paper. The back has a tab of tape with number (62) in upper right corner (probably from a showing). Robert Kaykaygeesick was born in 1948 in Warroad, Minnesota and was a member of the Buffalo Point First Nation in SW Manitoba. He has dual Canadian and US citizenship. He worked mainly in watercolors and uses traditional symbols and stylized images in an attempt to bring the consciousness of the past into the present day thought. His imagery is rooted in the values and the spiritual beliefs of his Ojibwa heritage. The cycle and unity of life are portrayed in the circles and mists that so often appear in his paintings.
