An original \"Ceremony of Proclaiming Peace in London, 6th of Oct\'r 1783; with Delineations of the Principal Characters\" engraved broadside commemorating the signing of the Treaty of Paris between the United States and Great Britain. The center was evidently made blank for calligraphic study by students; this example has the word \"Contentment\" written in a very large and clear hand, followed by a very legible series of lines from a 1727 William Mather textbook on the topic of contentment. The border is filled with vignettes showing heralds and other royal officials. It is signed by a Thomas Broome of Clungunford School, December 16 ,1792. The frame is about 23\" x 27\" and the visible area of the broadside is about 14\" x 17 1/4\". Very good condition as shown. The colors are only lightly faded and are clear. Several old folds that have been pressed out. Some areas of white and other minor soiling. The frame is later (I\'m thinking mid last century) and has typical vintage wear with small dings and rubs on the corners and edges. I typically would unmount an antique print for safer shipping but this is a nice, classic presentation with fine matting. I am happy to unmount it for the buyer, however. A true museum-worthy artifact of the American Revolution and a magnificent upgrade to almost any collection. Another example of this broadside was sold by Swann in 2016 and they state \"No other copies of this writing sheet have been traced in OCLC or at sale.\" This is an opportunity for some lucky buyer to own another. I always ship the same or next day. This item will be 100% packed, insured and shipped by FedEx as I find that is the safest way to send high value items.
