Up for Consideration is a Rare Original 18th Century Identified Revolutionary War French Made Colonial Men\'s Frock Coat & Waistcoat (1770-1785)

Frock Coat
Identified Colonial, French made, 18th Century (c.1770-85) Men\'s Frock Coat. Brown wool with abundant polychrome embroidery in floral pattern throughout. Fully lined in cotton. Fair to good condition. Wear commensurate with age and use. Overall intact. Underarms having a repairs, there are a few tears and mends, and scattered moth holes. Most matching cloth covered wood buttons are present, one missing on the lower back above the tails and one possibly 2 missing on front of coat. Please note photos as they are an important part of the description.

Waistcoat
Identified Gold lamé waistcoat - France Louis XV period Circa 1770
Low-cut waistcoat in gold-spun cloth fashioned with embroidery in floral pattern dating from the end of the Louis XV period. Fitted cut, crew neck, complete with 10 out of the 12 ornate buttons (6 original, 2 repaired) in a several materials. Back and lining in unbleached cotton. Heavy Damage to lining shown in photographs, old repairs, soiling and missing buttons. A hand written name “William Pannill”(of Virginia).

Private William Pannill II
Private William Pannill II, born on October 30, 1738, hailed from Orange, Virginia. He was the second son of William Pannill Jr. and Sarah (Bayley) Strother1. William married Ann Morton in 1761. As the Sheriff of Orange County, he played an active role in his community. His wife, Ann Morton, passed away in 1804, and their youngest child was born in 1790, indicating that William himself lived beyond that year.
