Replacement Typewriter Feet for Underwood Universal Portable (set of 4):
$44.00

I also have feet for the related Underwood 4-Bank machines and many more in my other class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Underwood Universal Typewriters are 69-87 years old (madebetween 1934 - 1952), and originally had rubber feet that by now may have theproperties of chewing gum under a desk. Even if they look ok, they probablyhave no traction at all, so the machine will slide around making typingdifficult. Mine were the latter, enabling me to make very good measurements oftheir rather complicated design. These are replacement and much improved feetusing modern 3D Printing techniques and materials, I think they look andfunction better than the original rubber ever could have, and will hopefullylast a lot longer!

My research indicates that these should fit on all theUnderwood Universal machines made through 1948 (from photo evidence on TWDB),and probably through 1952. Basically, if your machine looks just like the minein the photographs, they should fit. Pay particular attention to the foot style(if they exist on yours), or at least placement of the mounting points. Thefront and back feet have a completely different design, although look similarmounted. In the front, they are to be pushed through large holes below the BackSpace (left) and the *- (right). In the back--this is the key feature toidentify that these are the correct feet--they are flush with the back, and thecase has a taper matching these feet so you completely can see them from theback (see photo). The back feet are mounted by inserting a screw through the bottom. Note that the front feet also have a hole in them, but this is for the post on the case bottom to fit through.

So, there are a bunch of other Underwood machines that mightsay \"Universal\" on them, but they have different feet. There are evena bunch grouped together in TWDB along with this machine under \"UnderwoodUniversal\" most of those are actually different machines, usually referred to as\"Underwood 4-banks\", for example can clearly see from the rear photo that you can\'t see the feet, and theyare different. The front feet may actually be the same, I have one of these andwill create the correct feet for this soon.

I designed these to be nearly an identical replacement, butwith the advantages of modern technology we can engineer materials that werepreviously impossible. I printed with NinjaFlex Black TPU(https://ninjatek.com/ninjaflex/), which is nearly indestructible in ordinaryuse(but a knife or scissors will cut it, just like rubber!), flexible, and pretty gripping on most surfaces. I printed these at about 50% infill (witha flexible gyroid fill structure) for a balance between good friction on thetable, tight fit on the machine and shock absorption, and ability to easily install or remove them. These look and function just like the original, but should last much longer andbe far more durable. Some people may prefer the original dull rubber look, butI actually think these are a superior look to rubber, and the glossy sheenlooks great accenting the dark grey of the machine.

I designed these for my own typewriter as shown, and this isan experiment to see if it\'s worth my time to make some more for the community.I typically share my designs for anyone to print, except for extremelydifficult cases that I put a lot of design hours into. This is one of those, front and rear feat are completely different designs with a ton of critical dimensions, it took many iterations for each to get the design right. They also use more than twice the NinjaFlex material and printing time as my other feet, so I have to charge more for them.

PS: \'s volume discount display is a bit confusing, eachpurchase is a SET OF FOUR feet, so picking \"1\" is one set of 4;\"2\" is 2 sets of 4 (8), etc.

**PSS** Typewriter shown in photos is for illustration and display only, and is NOT included in this listing!! **
