Here's a beautiful, well formed coated quartz point from a rare location in the Andes Mountains of Peru.A true natural beauty from a legendary now closed mine.
The quartz crystal is coated in layers of vibrant blue botryoidal chrysocolla, and fuzzy shattuckite with healed bottomThe mine didnt produce many pieces with the shattuckite association, making this piece especially rare!
On one side this piece displays an interesting swirling pattern formed by chrysocolla, shattuckite, and limonite
Another cool aspect of this one is that the chrysocolla has flown into a pre-existing fracture on the quartz and formed. Making the inside glow blue when lit. This paired with the limonite's color contrast when back lit make for a very special piece!From the famous Tentadora mine, Julcani District, Angaraes Province, Huancavelica, Peru.
