Rare Pre-Transition Barling’s Make Billiard With Shape Number Modifier “F”:

This is a nice pipe! The previous owner cleaned up the pipe/stem well and I’ve smoked it maybe 2-3 times since I bought it. I’m not positive of the date of the pipe or what the “F” modifier indicates (please google: Barlings Make 1126 F for a discussion by the previous owner about this pipe on the Pipesmagazine.com website).

The above mentioned discussion suggests that the pipe is likely from 1930’s and that the “F” indicates a fantail stem. The discussion also suggests that the John Sinclair stamp might refer to a Newcastle tobacconist in business starting in the 1850’s.

There is slight light exposure oxidation on the top of the stem and minor bite marks (please see pics)
