These are exquisite pieces with stunning intricate ink and colors on silk--they are beautiful reproductions of the Ming Dynasty originals by Chou Ch\'en and Ting Yun-p\'eng that we have owned since 1995. Both paintings are signed and have several Chinese markings. We believe the gold foil \"Made in Taiwan Republic of China\" stickers indicates these were produced prior to 1949 (each over 80 years old). Features of both paintings: Exquisite ink detail and vibrant colors; The wood frames are impressive with bronze tone etched hardware on each frame; A decorative gold tone ornate mounting hardware; Beautifully finished brocade cloth backing on backs of each frame; Frame measurements: 23 3/4\" long by 16\" wide by 3/4\" deep.
The \' After the Line \"Idly Watching Children Catch Willow Flowers\" \' painting was by Chou Ch\'en (ca. 1460-after 1535) in the Ming Dynasty. It features a scholar watching children playing in the breeze under a willow tree trying to catch the falling flowers.
The \"Returning With The Buddhist Scriptures\" painting was by Ting Yun-p\'eng (1580-ca.1621) in the late Ming Dynasty. The label provides the extraordinary details of the Emperor sending for the return of Buddhist Scriptures in 65 a.d. .The attention to detail is simply amazing.
