Consist of a traveling wave tube with 50. DB amplification and matching supply Built and designed in 1956 era at Sperry Gyroscope Company to support an Air Force miniaturized target drone air to air middle evaluation. This is an advanced lightweight design. Originally furnished for Ryan Aircraft company drones. The traveling ray tube utilized was a unique Sperry development. Tha cost of the united package was estimated at the time was $10,000.00. USD. There were approx. 100 units built and delivered to Ryan Aircraft co who built THE SPIRIT OF SAINT LOUIS. . Still then in San Diego. Power input is 28 volts. Final output to operate the tube is 3000 volts at 1/4 amps. The voltage driving the TWT is adjustable to simulate different radar cross sections. The 100 prototypes were installed br Ryan into suitable drones and tested in operation and destroyed. A six foot drone would appear on radar as the size of a B17. Likely the only surviving example extant. The man who created this device sits right next me. He is 97 years olde. Sharp as a carpet tack and is willing to discuss details with the buyer. This device will be the centerpiece of a serious technological collection. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PRICE AN ITEM LIKE THIS, IT BEING LIKELY THE ONE REMAINING EXAMPLE.
