Robert Hichens was an English journalist, novelist, short story writer, music lyricist,who collaborated on successful plays.
Best remembered as a satirist of the \"Naughty Nineties.\"
His 1894 novel \"The Green Carnation\" was a parody on Oscar Wilde andLord Alfred Douglas and had to be withdrawn. He met Douglaswhile they were both in Egypt and gathered details on Douglas\'s relationshipwith Oscar Wilde. The resulting veiled account caused a scandal.He has 23 film and television credits.
