RARE c1910s US Marine Corps Barracks at Camp Very, Honolulu, Hawaii Postcard:

Rare postcard of the Marine Corps barracks at Camp Very (later named Fort Armstrong) in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a colored picture of a photograph.

The Marines were one of the first divisions to be stationed in Hawaii and part of the controversial overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii in the 1890s. Soon after the US would annex Hawaii. This caused some unrest with native Hawaiians. Plus, Hawaii was home to the valuable resource of sugar when there was a worldwide shortage. The Marines presence was thought to "discourage" any attempts to disrupt the new status quo and sugar production.

This makes the postcard likely from around 1908 to 1912.

Good condition especially when considering its age - good color but there are light stains. These are light but noticeable.

5-1/2" x 3-1/2" made of typical postcard paper material.
