ONLY ONE ANYWHERE???The latter is quite likely the case as there can only ONE certificate of this type extant for the year (1962), type ("to operate or navigate Passenger Carrying Vessels"), vignette (super retro passenger motorboat, smaller old motorboat and sailing vessel) and location (Philly PA). Add in crisp clean nearly mint condition and you have a recipe for rarity unmatched in the field of documentary Coast Guard memorabilia.Firm creamy buff paper with underprinted orange waves fanning out from the 1790 Coast Guard Seal, very ornate U.S. Currency like border and a 5.5" steel engraved vignette that will really float your motorboat!! Plus hand signature "by direction of the Officer in Charge of Marine Inspection". This is an Official U.S. Federal Government document measuring 8" x 10.5".No cancellation holes or stamps (just a small pen "canceled" outside vignette), no splits and no tears. Penned notation re: new license bottom left. Typed addition reads "operator of Motorboats or other Vessels of Fifteen Gross Tons or Less Propelled by Machinery other than Steam".Rare and unique piece worthy of a fine frame and a prominent wall location!Practically priceless but priced practically!!
