Very rare small bronze Brutalist sculpture Lady in Chair by sculptor and jewelry artist Carl Tasha.The nude woman is sitting straddled in the chair, holding a hand mirror.Tasha is known for his mischievous details- this one has a spider crouched underneath the chair.The sculpture total height is 5 inches.The woman in chair is 2 1/2\" high.The woman in chair is sitting atop the 3 piece square wood decorative base.It has 3 levels- 1 1/4\" square, 1 3/4\" square and 2\". They rotate manually.The round solid base is black marble made in Italy, measures 3 inches across. Signed \"C Tasha\" under the chair next to the spider. Numbered 21/100.It is our understanding that actually only about ten have survived.Weighs 12.4 ounces.We purchased it from Carl Tasha in the late 1970\'sVery good condition. Stored since purchase. Carl Tasha was a sculptor and jewelry artist who worked in Provincetown from the 1960\'s to 1970\'s.HIs work was in a style called Brutalist which comes from the French word brut which means raw.Brutalist art is known for its expressiveness and exaggerated features.Over the years Tasha\'s work has become a desired collectible.
