RARE. Albert Guyot Blériot XI airplane Photo by Karl Bulla 1909 Russian Empire:
$320.00

1. This is a rare postcard of Albert Guyot in the cockpit of the Blériot XI airplane at the Kolomyazhsky hippodrome. Photo by Karl Bulla 1909. Very good condition for its time.
In 1909, the All-Russian Aero Club invites foreign pilots for demonstration performances to popularize aviation among the population. Albert Guyot arrives in St. Petersburg in October. The Kolomyazhsky hippodrome was chosen for the flights, which met all the requirements: a flat platform, stands for spectators and a high fence so that free riders could not see the amazing spectacle. On November 1, at the Kolomyazhsky hippodrome at the Bleriot-IX airport, Guyot made two flights at an altitude of 12-15 meters for a total duration of 8 minutes, and to the enthusiastic cries of a crowd of thousands he completed another circle over the hippodrome. So the French aviator discovered the history of flights at the Kolomyazhsky hippodrome (later the Commandant airfield).

Carl Oswald Bulla or Karl Karlovich Bulla (Russian: Карл Карлович Булла; 26 February 1855 or 1853 – 28 November 1929) was a German-Russian photographer, often referred to as the "father of Russian photo-reporting".
The Blériot XI is a French aircraft of the pioneer era of aviation. The first example was used by Louis Blériot to make the first flight across the English Channel in a heavier-than-air aircraft, on 25 July 1909. This is one of the most famous accomplishments of the pioneer era of aviation, and not only won Blériot a lasting place in history but also assured the future of his aircraft manufacturing business. The event caused a major reappraisal of the importance of aviation; the English newspaper The Daily Express led its story of the flight with the headline "Britain is no longer an Island"
Albert Guyot (25 December 1881 in Orléans – 24 May 1947 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) was a French racecar driver. He was one of four drivers who entered with Duesenberg the 1921 French Grand Prix, the first in which a US make participated. Jimmy Murphy won with his Duesenberg 183; Guyot finished 6th.
