This Pre-WW1 Chassuers a Cheval Sous-Lieutenant French Tunic Model 1872/84 Third Empire. Purchased in France years ago, this Dolman is for the 10th Regiment of Chasseurs a Cheval of Sampigny-Sezanne. This style tunic was introduced in 1872. Initially, those were darker blue. This example is likely 1884 or after as the blue got lighter in color until early 1890 when they went to a shell style jacket with no braiding.

The Dolman is in excellent shape for being around 130-140 years old. It is dirty and true as found. There is some small mothing to the tunic in various spots, and some of the black braiding is loose, but it does not take away from the uniform. The sleeve rank had been tacked back into place with like color threading

All buttons are tight and correct to the uniform and are marked "Paris." The trefoil or shoulder boards are removable and are super rare to find with a tunic, alone are expensive when found and are included with the uniform.

The interior lining is in good shape and is intact. The inside pocket has the name Perrin inscribed if I read it correctly. Any uniform that is Third Empire is getting harder to find, especially in display worthy shape and true to its use. Please look at the pictures as a reference of condition. It is by no means perfect.
