A good example of the late war design of shirt with attached collar. In late 1944, the British Army adopted a shirt with an attached collar as other ranks began to wear an open collar and necktie with the Battle Dress jacket. This was in response to many soldiers acquiring both Canadian and American shirts as they were deemed to ne of better quality and allowed for a more formal look when worn without the jacket. This example appears to be one of the early designs. It has an attached collar, epaulettes and chest pockets like the American shirts. Although it has a fully opening front, it still is made to look like it has a half button placket. The size label is missing from inside the collar, but you can see where the stitching was. The date stamp inside the front shirttail is crisp and clear dating it to 1944, the first year these were issued, however, it appears that this is actually a post-war shirt that has been dated 1944. It is missing one of the small plastic cuff buttons and has some moth damage in the armpit on either side. Otherwise it is in very good shape. It does show signs of wear, and has a few spots on the back that may wash out, but would still display well on a figure.Please check my other sales for items of interest.Thanks for looking and Listing a new lot of WW1 and WW2 military items andother things over the next few days. good luck!
