This isa 5.4\" by 4.5\"piece of paper thathas the autograph of Dr. Paul Dawson Eddy(1895-1975), who served as President of Adelphi University for twenty-eight years, from 1937 to 1965.
Dr. Eddy was an ordained Methodist minister. Under his leadership, Adelphi grew from a smallcollege into a major university.
Dr. Eddy was associate director of the Christian Association at the University of Pennsylvania from 1925 to 1929. He then accepted an appointment as minister of the Central Student Church of the University of Manila, and director of the Wesley Foundation for the Philippines.
Dr. Eddy returned to the United States in 1931 to become director of the New York office ofthe International Council of Religious Education,and executive director of the Religious Education Foundation.
Thisautographdates to the 1930s. It isis in good condition, with moderate wear.
PLEASE NOTE: there is a second autograph on this slip of paper, which I have not yet been able to identify, but which likely belongs to aclergyman.
This autograph originally belonged toClifford J. Benfield (1924-2018), who started his collection of autographs of church leaders and notable visitors as a choirboy in the 1930s.
A veteran of WW2, Cliff had a long successful career in business. He served as Vice President at Columbia Records, and as an Executive Vice President at CBS, The Lowes Corporation,and American Express. Hewas founder andpresident of Hay Career Consultants.
His life experiences included being held at the age of two by Charles Lindbergh,shortly before the takeoff of the Spirit of St. Louis.He was married to his wife Eunice for 68 years.
