Very unique Pattern M1908 British Cavalry Troopers Sword Pre WW1 Cut Down Trench Fighting Knife SUPER RARE - See photos for dimensions and condition - Made in the famous Mole factory- Has all proof and Mfr. marks. Dated 1911. I believe this to be its original manufacture date. This is one of the most prolific swords in the British Army history. And was in service from 1908 until 1941. Most authorities believe the M1913 US Patton saber was modeled from this sword. Do your research - dont miss out on this one - you wont see another.
Includes WW1 era leather scabbard appears to be from a Bolo knife - has been cut down and modified to fit this trench knife. Knife fits tightly in the scabbard. It was nicely modified for a correct useable fit. It has some scuffs and loose stitching and again - HAS BEEN MODIFIED - see photos for condition - but it couldnt fit this trench knife more perfect - great fit and does not look like it will soon fall apart like many from this era - very solid scabbard.
Unique original grip - few of these survived in original form and the sword itself is hard to find - I have never seen another trench knife made / modified from a Pattern 1908 British sword this is a very unique and rare piece - you\'ll likely never see another.The knife has been modified by removing the basket originally surrounding the ricasso area and the handguard piece that attached to the pommel. Everything about this knife is tight - there is nothing loose. Blade has a reasonably sharp edge - it has some scratches and discoloration and of course has been cut down from original sword length. And very nicely done.
Great for the rare pre WW1 trench / fighting knife collectors.
