From John Stanley Antique Tools -Wow! Early patented tool handle with 9 of the original 12 bits. Nickel plated brass screw on end cap. The cap is marked - Horace E. Britton / Stoughton, Mass. / Sole Mfrs. The Rosewood handle is marked - Henry\'s Pat. Mar. 18, 1874. Measures 4 1/8\" long. In doing a patent search we found a patent granted March 3, 1874 to Stephen Henry of Marshfield, Mass. Other Britton tool handles we have seen have the March 3, 1874 patent date. We do not know why this one is marked - Pat. Mar. 18, 1874. This listing includes the 2 pages of patent info we found.
