PAYNE & Co\"Antique \'mid-Victorian\' Pedometer\"Description : I am selling an antique pedometer by Payne & Co of London (c. 1870). The dial is signed \"163 New Bond Street, London,\" with the patent number \"835\" and the casemaker\'s mark \"AT.\"It features a gilt-finished movement with an oscillating pivoted weight on an arm and a ratcheted gear train, a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, a single blued steel hand, and an engine-turned case on both the front and back. The movement is accessed by depressing a catch at the base.William Payne & Co took part in The Great Exhibition of 1851, where the company exhibited these instruments. They were patronized by the British Royal Family following this event. This pedometer would make a lovely addition to any collection.Diameter: 3 1/4 cmCondition : There is a small chip to the dial but overall it is in excellent condition and appears to be in good working order.
