The U.S. Representative adds his home state of Oklahoma to his signature
Signature: \"Page Belcher M.C./1st District (Okla)\", 3½x2. Page Henry Belcher (1899-1980) was a Republican politician who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1953 to 1973. After serving in World War I, Belcher enrolled in the University of Oklahoma where he studied law and played football. He was admitted to the bar in 1936 and began practicing law in Enid, Oklahoma. He was the County Clerk for Garfield, served on the Enid Board of Education, and as secretary to U.S. Rep. Ross Rizley. He represented Oklahoma\'s 8th district from 1951 to 1953 before in went defunct; after which, he resumed in Congress as Oklahoma\'s 1st District Representative. Rarely opposed for reelection, Belcher was a member of the Agriculture Committee and its wheat subcommittee for his entire congressional tenure, and also was a key administrator in the Arkansas River Navigation System.
