For sale is a rare and interesting Beacon Newspaper Book, Volume 31-32, corresponding to the 1941-1942 school year for Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, PA. The 12/8/41 issue surprisingly has no coverage of Pearl Harbor, most likely because the issue was already printed. There was no issue the following week, perhaps as a gesture of respect for the Pearl Harbor tragedy.

Subsequent issues contain anti-war messages, anecdotes, and advertisements, mostly in the form of buying war bonds. The newspaper also writes about alumni who died as part of the war effort as World War II was beginning. Despite the global conflict, the majority of the content covers the regular life of the school and its students.

Condition: Some wear on spine corners. Occasional pencil markings and minor page tears as shown in the pictures. The size of the book is approximately 30\" x 18\".
