Nice original WWII Sterling Silver Cigarette Case. This case is engraved to Captain E.P. Eldredge from the Officers of the USS Mount Vernon 15 November 1945. His monogram is on the front of the case. Eldredge served as Captain of the Mount Vernon 1943-1945 during the thick of the war. This silver case is slim with a stripe design on the monogram side and smooth on the engraved side. The push button latch works perfectly and there is a spring hinge that separates the two halves. The interior is very ornate with a circle pattern. The edge is marked STERLING and the silver spring loaded cigarette retaining bar works perfectly. The weight of the case is 3.2 ounces. This is a beautiful well made example and a great piece of US Naval History!!
