The product is an Original Pet Rock from 1975, manufactured in the United States. It is a figurine and comes with a nest and instructions. NO HOUSE BREAKING REQUIRED 🤭🤣.

The product is new old stock, meaning it has never been used or sold before. It is a vintage item from the 1970s and is not handmade. This item literally came out of the original case that was still sealed from 1975 as shown in the last picture. The pet rock box may have some kind of crease or bend or fold because it came from an original case box from 1975 and that original case box had been smashed. So be aware ahead of time that some of the boxes may have creases, folds and dents due to age, they also may vary from the photos.

The pet rock story:

Gary Dahl was an advertising executive and freelance copywriter in California when he came up with the idea for the Pet Rock in

1975. While having a drink with friends, they joked about how low-maintenance it would be to have a pet rock. Dahl took the idea and ran with it, creating a product that was literally just a rock in a box with air holes and a manual.

Dahl knew that the Pet Rock would only sell if he could market it as a real product with a purpose. He spent a lot of time and money on the packaging and marketing materials, which included a manual that humorously detailed the "care and feeding" of a pet rock.

He also created a backstory for the Pet Rock, claiming that they were "trained" in Mexico by a pet handler named Pedro.

When the Pet Rock was released in time for the 1975 holiday season, it quickly became a sensation. People were buying them as gag gifts and stocking stuffers, and the media caught wind of the craze. Dahl was interviewed on several TV shows, including

"The Tonight Show," which helped to increase sales even more. By the end of the holiday season, Dahl had sold over 1.5 million Pet Rocks at $4 each, making him a millionaire.

The story of the Pet Rock is a reminder that sometimes the most ridiculous ideas can be

the most successful. Gary Dahl's creativity and marketing skills turned a joke between friends into a million-dollar idea. While the Pet Rock may seem like a silly fad today, it was a cultural phenomenon that left a lasting impact on the toy industry and popular culture.
