It\'s just a cup but WHAT A CUP if you are outside and in need of something to drink from, eat from, scoop with, you name it!
Designed and manufactured for the Swedish Army in the 1960\'s to meet the needs of Swedish Army soldiers in the field and to fit snugly in their issue military mess kits. It is made of very high quality plastic with a matt finish and has very tough construction with reinforcing ridges along the sides of the bowl and a strong handle to withstand real use in the field by soldiers in the tough Scandinavian weather environment.
It is bigger than what people usually think of as a \"cup\", it\'ll hold a lot of coffee, cocoa, soup, noodles, etc. up to about 12 ounces or 1.5 cups or 380 milliliters, and keep both hands warm but not scalded while you hold it (unlike a metal cup). Weight is 72 grams or about 2.5 ounces.
The cups are in like new condition with a minimum of scuffs from being stacked together in storage, they are as clean as I can make them. You can tell they are unused because they don\'t have scratches inside the bowl from metal spoons. Those cups I have with such scratches I will sell at a discount in another listing.
They are marked under their handle with the manufacturer\'s name, in this listing the Kåsa cups are made by Stellana, a factory located in Laxå, Sweden. Though probably made in the 1960\'s, Stellana is still a major plastics company in Sweden. Under the handle is also the number 19 or 17 or 12, among the higher lot numbers seen, which probably indicates a later production run, along with the Three Crowns \"Tre Kronor\" ♕♕♕ found on every piece of Swedish Army equipment. It has a round ended handle to fit the contours of the interior of the Swedish Army issue mess kit pot. The Stellana made Kåsa cups are the classics of the genre with their solid construction and matt finish.
The cup\'s side edges have a thick reinforcing ridge and in the handle is a generous 11 mm, about half inch, round hole through which a lanyard can be attached. Cups can be stacked within each other so that they take up less space.
