Original Associated News Service Poster Aug 7 1929 GRAF ZEPPELIN At Lakehurst NJ:
$75.00

Today I will be offering my usual vintage advertising, documents, letters, stamps, photos, stereoviews, postcards, and other ephemera. I frequent local sales and estate sales up and down the east coast where I pick up lots of fun old stuff and list almost all of it on . Check my other sales for more early ephemera. All items guaranteed to be vintage and original.
ITEM DESCRIPTION:A rarely offered piece, this is an original Associated News Service poster with a dramatic photo of the airship GRAF ZEPPELIN in the air over Lakehurst, NJ on August 7, 1929. These ANS posters were printed and displayed to promote daily newspaper sales. It measures 14 by 17 inches, printed on one side. The frame you see in some of my photos is just a $2 Goodwill Store frame with plastic "glass" I laid the poster in for safe keeping, but it will give you an idea of how nice it looks framed. I removed the poster to get most of the pictures because of the glare. I will mail it rolled up in a sturdy shipping tube unless you want the frame as well. In the photo of the bottom left corner you can see a white vertical line. That is a printing flaw, NOT a rip, crease, or tear. Probably a crack in the printing plate or possibly a piece of string or paper got in there somehow. The paper itself is undamaged, perfectly fine. As documented;
"On August 7, 1929, Graf Zeppelin began its most famous flight; a round-the-world voyage covering 21,2500 miles in five legs from Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen, Friedrichshafen to Tokyo, Tokyo to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Lakehurst, and then Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen again. It was the first passenger-carrying flight around the world and received massive coverage in the world’s press. The ship ended its record breaking flight with a landing at Lakehurst the morning of August 29, 1929. The Lakehurst to Lakehurst voyage had taken just 12 days and 11 minutes of flying time, and brought worldwide attention and fame to Graf Zeppelin and its commander, Hugo Eckener."
Complete and intact, displays beautifully. Read my CONDITION paragraph below, email with any questions. All items guaranteed vintage and authentic - no reproductions or reprints. See my other sales for more vintage ephemera and other fun old stuff!
CONDITION:Excellent with very minor wear. There is some toning on the back at the bottom which has VERY lightly bled through - see my close-up photos of the orange box at the bottom of the front. Again, that vertical white line is a printing flaw, NOT a rip, crease, or tear.Complete and intact, no creases, tack holes, rips, or other damage. This poster will display very nicely.
US SHIPPING OPTIONS: Shipping in the US via USPS Ground Advantage in a sturdy mailing tube, which would also include tracking and insurance - $8.00.
