This is an poster printed in 1918 during WWI. The army hired women to serve as telephone operators overseas, as this poster shows. The United War Work Campaign was a combined effort of several organizations, including the Y.W.C.A., to raise money for the war. World War I was the first time in American history that women were officially part of the military and government agencies. But, while women were being encouraged to serve in the war, women were also protesting for their right to vote. Poster is artist signed by Clarence Underwood.
