Ontario Northern Development highway 1 sign. Up for sale today is this Ontario route 1 sign. This sign is made to the exact 1932 standard used by the Department of Northern Development, which was a separate roadbuilding entity from the Department of Highways until their unification in 1937. The sign features the Ontario provincial crest; the only one of the three 1930s Ontario route shield types to do so.(if you would like a different route number, I can certainly make that as well!) The sign is 11 3/4 by 17 3/4 inches and weighs a solid 4 pounds, 4 ounces. It is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
