Official U.S. Sabre, 1840 Official U.S. Sabre, 1840This elegantly ornate saber has a blade made of 1065 high carbon steel. Brass grip, leather knob with circular embellishment and brass guard with hand chiselled foliage. This fine reproduction is a faithful copy of a saber of those actually used. The hand-forged blade is made of steel, according to British military specification, with bending at more than 20 degrees and returning to its original position. As befits its rank, this sword shows a high degree of ornamentation. The brass guard is decorated with hand-chiselled foliage and the inscription «USA» between the branches. The blade is engraved with foliage, military trophies, «U.S.», «E Pluribus Unum» and «Iron Proof». In the years leading up to the war, many Confederate officers, including General Robert E. Lee, carried this sword in Indian campaigns. Comes equipped with blue steel case. - Overall length: 89 cm.
