This piece was a promotional item based on the Captain Midnight story line andits named character which Ovaltine sponsored during the 1940’s and 1950’s. The small cup was designed for children todrink their Ovaltine hot chocolate milk in. Thismug is “Made in the U.S.A.” (description photo #8) and is red plastic measuringapproximately 3-1/8” tall and 3.0” in diameter at the top and 2-7/16” in diameteron the bottom. This child’s mug featuresa 2.0” handle and a multi-color image of “Captain Midnight” on one side. Refer to description photos #9, #10 and #11to confirm the size dimensions and for more details about what I havedescribed. Oneside of the cup features a multi-color image of “CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT” with him proclaiming “HOT OVALTINE THE HEART OF A HEARTY BREAKFAST”. Refer to description photos #1, #2, #6 and #7for more details about what I have described. Overall,this cup is an adorable and nostalgic vintage piece of collectible advertising memorabilia. The cup remains in good condition consideringit is 70+ years old. The plastic retains its attractive and vibrant redcolor and has no cracks or damage. Beingas old as this piece is, the plastic surface shows minor wear with lightsurface blemishes from once being used and decades of being on display andbeing handling. The applied graphics and image of Captain Midnight have afew scattered areas of small loss but overall still remains easily recognizableas can be verified in the description photos 6 and #7.
