This listing is for an ORIGINAL, vintage, rare, illustrated newspaper titled THE SPHERE, Volume XLIX. No. 640, London, April 27, 1912 with newsboy holding paper: HOW THE TITANIC WENT DOWN, (The Modern Messenger of Death: A typical bearer of the fateful tidings concerning the “Titanic”), drawn by F. Matania (stamped G.A. Final “Garsyte” Sandpit Land, Cholesbury, Tring, Herts.) The pages number 67-68-69-70-71-72-73-74-76-79 feature: The Newsletter, A Time Story of the “Titanic” Disaster; The Wreck of the “Titanic”; Commander Edward J. Smith, R.N.R.; The Need for Searchlights on Ocean Racers; The Aftermath of Sorrow; The Personal Side of the “Titanic” Disaster; The Question of Pressure Upon the Sunken “Titanic”; The Question of Vortex; The Lost “Titanic” Where She Lies in the Atlantic; Lost on the “Titanic” The late F. D. Millet. The paper has an attached outer top advertisement page on the front cover. There are additional non-Titanic story/articles with photo images as well. The cover advertisement paper has wear, outside spine looks like a type of tape along edge. The newspaper itself is in very good condition, the center staples are rusted and some pages loose and the centerfold is loose, but included and the last numbered print page is 86 with i-xiv back pages. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE SPHERE, Supplement to the Sphere, April 27, 1912, with same stamp (G. A. Final, etc.) titled: THE WRECK OF THE “TITANIC.” The Story Told by “Sphere” Diagrams in a Special Twelve-page Supplement (last vision of the “Titanic” by night). The 12 page supplement is fully intact, covers: How the Inhospitable Ice Floe Encountered the Luxury of the “Titanic”; Diagram I The First Contact with the Berg: Diagram II Scraping Past the Berg; Diagram III How the “Titanic” Gradually Sank Bow First with Her Lights Blazing to the Last; Diagram IV The Lowering of the Boats; Diagram V The Last Phase; The Mechanism by which the boats were lowered; with advertisements at the back cover. Both the newspaper and supplement measure approx. 14-3/4” BY 12-1/4” and when packed SECURELY for shipping the weight is 2 pounds 2 ounces and will require signature confirmation.
