I put this together some time ago to represent and early war 18th infantry regiment's utility uniform as it would have appeared in 1965-66 using photos as reference. The 1st ID never had a subdued shoulder patch and was unique in having full color pocket patches of it's assigned regiments throughout the war. I must iterate that the patches are NOT sewn on but are rather glued using fabric cement; the bond is strong but it wouldn't hurt to have them sewn in place to add that final touch of authenticity and field durability. I didn't have access to a sewing service nearby so I made do with what I had.
All patches are original period items. The full color private purchase style U.S. Army tape shown on the article was prevalent on utilities of this period.Base shirt is of 1970 production (though design stayed the same from 1964-75) and has a small snag/hole on the bottom front left hem (see photo). Size is roughly equated to standard medium.
