These are museum quality showcase works of art. This beautiful pair of artistic bookends were created at the Roman bronze Works foundry in 1922 by Gleb Dirujinsky. They are one of the best quality, high-end sets of bookends ever made.

Gleb W. Derujinski ((1888 - 1975) was a Russian-American sculptor began his artistic studies in St. Petersburg in 1896. He moved to Paris in 1912 where he continued his studies and was befriended by Rodan. In 1913, he returned to Saint Petersburg, where he won numerous awards. In 1919 he emigrated to the United States. Some of his subjects included Teddy Roosevelt, Lillian Gish, Franklin, D.Roosevelt, Adlai Stevenson, John F. Kennedy, and many other. His works also appear in Major public buildings and churches.

His works, including these book ends, have sold in major art, galleries and sale houses, including Christies, Sopies and others. Take a very good look at all of the photos.

Derujinski‘s works are in the permanent collections of major museums in the United States and in Europe. In researching his fascinating life don’t be confused with his son Gleb Derujinky (1925-2011) who was one of the most demanded fashion photographers of his time.
