In ancient Egyptian texts, Two Women was a religious metaphor for the deities Wadjet (the cobra goddess in Lower Egypt) and Nekhbet (the eagle goddess in Upper Egypt). Two of the gods were ancient Egyptian shepherds and were worshiped in all of Egypt after the unification of its two parts, Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt.  When the two parts of Egypt were united together by King Narmer, there was no merging of these deities as often happened with similar deities from different regions and cities.  Both deities were retained because of the importance of their roles and became known as the "Two Ladies", who were protectors of a united Egypt.  After unification, the image of Nekhbet joined Wadjet on the uraeus, and they were later displayed together as part of the crowns of Egypt.  The two women were responsible for establishing laws, protecting the Egyptian king and country, and promoting peace.  The holiest deities in ancient Egyptian pantheon were usually referred to by such euphemisms or other euphemisms—sometimes in large strings of titles—in order to keep their names secret from enemies and infidels, and to show respect for the authorities.

Nekhbet she is an early predynastic local goddess in Egyptian mythology, who was the patron of the city of Nekheb (her name meaning of Nekheb).  Ultimately, she became the patron of Upper Egypt and one of the two patron deities (alongside Wadjet) for all of Ancient Egypt when it was unified
