What is volcano agate?
Agate is a typical rock formation primarily composed of chalcedony and quartz with various colors. The agate crystal is a mineraloid in geology and results from long-term accumulations of siliceous groundwater deposits in rock cavities.
Is Volcano agate real?Although some agates form in sedimentary deposits, the majority are actually secondary deposits formed in lava. Lava, the molten rock that reaches the surface of the earth through volcanic eruptions, often contains gas bubbles called vesicles.
UV-reactive volcanic agate is a beautifully banded variety of chalcedony that forms when lava containing UV-reactive minerals interacts with groundwater.
A striking greenish luminescence in agate is related the uranyl ion (UO 2 2+ ) and can be excited both by short-wave UV light (<300 nm) or an electron beam [36]
