Northwest Africa 14465(NWA 14465) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Feb Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, polymict) History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in February 2021 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving,UWSand J. Boesenberg,BrownU) Breccia composed predominantly of gabbroic and diabasic eucrite clasts and related mineral debris together with <10 vol.% diogenitic orthopyroxene (exhibiting undulose extinction). Other minerals are calcic plagioclase (polycrystalline), exsolved pigeonite, silica polymorph, ilmenite, chromite, troilite, ulvöspinel and altered Fe metal, plus minor secondary barite and calcite. Geochemistry: Diogenitic orthopyroxene (Fs23.9-25.5Wo1.7-2.0, FeO/MnO = 25-28, N = 2), eucritic low-Ca pyroxene host (Fs59.1-59.5Wo3.9-4.6, FeO/MnO = 31, N = 2), eucritic augite exsolution lamellae (Fs23.5-26.4Wo37.5-40.8, FeO/MnO = 23-25, N = 2), pigeonite (Fs33.7Wo7.8, FeO/MnO = 22; Fs46.1-53.2Wo7.9-19.6, FeO/MnO = 29-30, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs35.8-47.9Wo3.7-4.3, FeO/MnO = 26-30, N = 3), plagioclase (An89.1-90.4Or0.4-0.2, N = 4).
