The New York, Chicago, & St. Louis owned 9 new RSD12’s.
They produced the same horsepower (1800) as the Alco RS11
but rode on C-C trucks as opposed to the RS11’s B-B trucks,
giving the RSD12 improved traction especially at lower speeds
for hauling freight. The RSD12’s were delivered in this dramatic
striped paint design, and later were repainted in a simplified
design. They were folded into the Norfolk & Western Railroad
roster at the time of the merger with that railroad. 550 different Limited Edition railroad art prints by Andy
