This recent find comes from Estate of Retired NASA MSFC Aerospace Engineer that was part of ABMA and NASA working with Wernher von Braun on the pioneering Rocket Team. Mr. Thomson was ultimately responsible for the development of the H1/F1/J2 Rocket Engines and eventually put in charge of the Shuttle "SSME" development in 1968. Lastly from 1971-86 he served as Chief Engineer for the Space Shuttle Main Engine. This listing is for a Authentic WERNHER VON BRAUN SIGNED letter to Mr. Jerry Thomson. Letter was sent to Mr. Thomson by von Braun in deep appreciation for his support and critical work in solving the POGO problem for the Saturn V insuring a successful Apollo 8 Mission. Letter has date stamp JAN 22, 1969 and has a copy of letter attached that has in the signature area/box typed "Original Signed by Wernher von Braun." Original and Copy letters are stapled together in the top left corner - Mr. Thomson was lead at (MSFC) on solving the POGO issue and Credited with it being his largest contribution to the Space Program in his 2004 obituary by Alex McCool. He also introduced the use of what we know as the GIMBAL. Letters are in Excellent overall condition with only minor age/storage wear (staple area - see picture 7). As expected, letters have creases where they were folded to be placed in an envelope.BADGE shown in Picture 12 is NOT included in listing, but shown for reference only.
