The brown acicular raite, which is easy to visually identifyf or the locality and featured in third image, isn\'t mentioned in the label. The rare mountainite, whichassociates with raite at this locality shows upin white to colorless submillimeter crystals. Specimen measures 1.7 cm. x 9 cm. It is mounted on a black wooden pedestal affixed to styrofoam in a standard hinged plastic thumbnail display case.PLEASE READ IF NOT FAMILIAR WITH MICROMOUNTS!! This specimen and all micromounts, by definitionrequire significant magnification to be appreciated and sometimes are too smallto be seen with the naked eye. The pertinent species, certainly when onmatrix, often comprises but a small portion of the overall specimen. Themicromounts offered for sale at this site have been photographed at between 10xand 50x and except where otherwise noted come mounted in lidded plastic boxesof various ages ranging in size from alittle less to a little more than one cubic inch. We ship up to 6 micromountsin a 4 inch x 4 inch x 4 inch box. Usually, our micromounts come from oldcollections. Identifications typically speak for themselves pursuant tolabels that are usually original and affixed to the case bearing the specimenwhen we acquired it.Whenever these identifications are not immediately obvious,we research as much as possible relying on MINDAT and other sources and willnot sell specimens we are not convinced have been labeled accurately accordingto both species and locality. Usually the specimens are mounted with glueto a pedestal that’s often fabricated from cork, wood, or plastic, which inturn has been glued to the bottom of the display case. Some specimens, however, are more simply mounted to the bottom of their cases with aplastic based putty known as “Mineral Tack.” Before we list and beforeshipping, we check to ascertain that each specimen is firmly mounted. Whenappropriate, we’ll enclose a bit of batting or or very thin plastic wrapmaterial inside the micromount case to help assure that the specimenremains firmly mounted during shipping. Even so, it’s not impossible for amicromount to become dislodged during shipping. Occasionally this damagesthe specimen, but usually not. Should a specimen arrive damaged, we issuean immediate refund. Should a micromount specimen selling for more than $10.00US arrive damaged we request that it be returned and will refund your paymentand reimburse your shipping costs to return
