AG Russell style Mountain Knives Hunter’s Scalpel w/ Thumbolt Sheath - theHunter’s Scalpel, is a small fixed blade knife featuring Blackie Collins’ patentedThumbolt® sheath design. The 1 ¾” blade and overall length of 4 ¼” makes this a knifethat can be carried discretely and quickly accessed from anywhere. Carry it in yourpocket, clipped to your shirt collar or pack, worn on a lanyard or hung from your belt.The grey thermoplastic handle has a wavy “fingergroove” allowing good purchase withnatural feel when gripping.When the Thumbolt sheath’s retaining lock button is pushed the sheath and knife havespeed assist separation. The spring action propels them apart, the blade is instantlyexposed for use. Invented by Blackie Collins, this sheath is molded of very tough glassfilled thermoplastic, similar to Zytel®. These are claimed to be the SAFEST sheaths inthe world. The knife cannot cut through the sheath and injure the owner. The blade hasa concave grind w/ mirror finish. The blade steel is not specified but considering theearly period of manufacture in Japan, I would guess that it is AUS 6, 8 or 10 stainless.Made in Japan. New in original box, detachable clip, key chain lanyard and plasticsleeve. Rare. Never carried or used.
