For 2008, Montblanc pays tribute to Francois I, King of France (1515), one of the greatest Patron of the Art. The passion of François I for painting, architecture and artistic writing is expressed in the carefully chosen design of the Montblanc Patron of Art Edition bearing his name. The gilt pen fittings shine in royal elegance and are decorated with courtly Renaissance ornaments. Another majestic touch is the three-color combination of the valuable materials: gold-plated fittings, black precious lacquer on the cap and a genuine semi-precious tiger-eye gemstone barrel. During his life, François I wore this fascinating gem as an amulet to protect himself against dangers and the powers of evil. The fine engraving on the handmade 18K gold nib honors the great king and art patron: it shows three heraldic lilies, the insignia of the French royal house, which also adorned the royal crown of lilies. The ornamental work on the rings and clip are patterns from the Renaissance – as Francois I was known as the "Renaissance King". The uniqueness of each pen is guaranteed by the engraved edition number of 3759, limited to only 4,810 pieces. Fountain pen is bottle fill only. Please study the photos for best description of product and condition. The acrylic pen display stands are not included. As a long time fountain pen collection, I take special care in packing and shipping collectibles like I'm the one to be receiving them! I use only new boxes, box lock super tape and quality packing materials. A collectible fountain pen as great as this Montblanc Francois I Patron of Art Edition certainly deserves this level of TLC in transport.
