This is a highly valuable and collectible item for those interested in antique porcelain from the last quarter of the 19th century.
A miniature porcelain vase decorated by Helena Wolfsohn in the style of 18th century Meissen Augustus Rex designs featuring courting scenes and floral on a white background, bordered by gold gilt and fuchsia rim. Hand written Augustus Rex mark on unglazed base.
Helena Wolfsohn was a skilled porcelain artist who purchased porcelain blanks from well-known Dresden potteries (including Meissen) and exquisitely decorated them. From 1879 onwards, she put the 'A.R.' (Augustus Rex) Meissen mark onto her items until 1883.
Measurements ~ 2.5”H; 1 7/8”W (handle to handle)
Condition ~ Pre-owned estate fresh item with no damage to report. No chips, cracks or repairs. Excellent color and no imperfections.
